Love over lust - YMG November Update
This month brought about a true conviction of heart and focused on an underlying problem in our society of men today, the topic of lust. Two sessions each with such profound knowledge and wisdom that will leave a lasting impact on the YMG Men to fight for freedom and to live out their calling with true authentic love.
👤YMG SOUTH: Understanding our human sexuality
📅 November 7th 2025
The Men started off by testing their true camaraderie by partaking in a obstacle course representing the three pillars of the Anchored program. Prayer - by being lead through faith and not by sight, Discipline - physically crawling their way to get to the next checkpoint & Fraternity - using only two chairs to help all members get to the finish line (to HEAVEN).
We were blessed with opportunity to hear from a guest speaker, Ben Ryan. He delivered such a person and powerful insight into the topic of lust, particularly drawing upon the workings of St. John Paul 2nd workings Theology of the Human Body. Out of respect for Ben’s privacy, no information regarding his personal yet powerful testimony will be disclosed.
The talk gave a healthy reminder of the dignity of any and every human being. It spoke volumes of what is means to love. Love is the total gift of self whilst lust is the use of another for one’s own pleasure. The term chastity is often met with misunderstanding, simply addressing it as abstaining or restricting one’s own sexual desires yet the Church offers clarity and beautiful insight to its true meaning. Chastity is the discipling of sexual desire, it a precious gift to allow one self to govern not be dominated by it.
Life is not just about ME, it is making myself a gift of self - that is what true love is. What ever state in life we are in, we are called to live it out chastely.
This night gave the men an opportunity to strengthen the brotherhood, becoming vulnerable and accountable for difficulties regarding lust.
👣 RAlly for the Saving viable babies - standing up for life

A great multitude of people across South Australia came to at the steps of Parliament to support the the life-saving bill to ensure pregnancies of over 27 weeks and 6 days were to remain alive. The bill would bring back the common sense needed in our law, saving lives that truly matter and for babies to be safely delivered and resounding chance at life.
Many of the YMG men took time to show up and support the cause of saving viable babies. Despite the unfavoured outcome, the voting down of the bill, we as YMG will never cease to be a voice for the voiceless and showing our undoubted support for viable babies. The battle has not yet ended and we will never stop to show our support by STANDING UP for LIFE!
❤️🔥YMG NORTH - The cry of the human heart

We were fortunate to be joined by Fr. Terrence a priest from the Missionaries of God’s Love. His passion, wisdom and personal testimony posed a challenge for all of the YMG members - to let go and let GOD work in their life against the battle of lust. When we fight this battle against lust by ourselves we will inevitably fail. We NEED God to face this battle, we need to truly SURRENDER everything and let it go.
Fr. Terrence posed the question we ought to consider, how might our relationship with our earthly father impact our view of our Heavenly Father?. It is a question we all should consider, ponder and entrust that our God is willing and wanting us to experience what real love is. Our Heavenly Father is not a distant but ever close and present.
Often when we fall into lust we end up feeling isolated, shame and fearful. We ought to know we are not alone in this fight, we have our brothers to reach out to and by the grace of GOD we can defeat this battle. With this in mind, will you be open to his invitation, leaving your old ways behind and renewed by His love by surrendering and letting go of EVERYTHING.

It has been a little while since our YMG Men’s Conference back in July so it was long overdue for the tremendous efforts and commitment of the YMG Men to recognised and celebrated. The night was filled with laughter, enjoyed with wonderful food, fun, and many games. It is incredible to see the impact four crews, with faithful men guided by God’s grace did to make the YMG Conference possible.
It not only shows the true brotherhood but it wouldn’t be possible without the support of men across Adelaide, whether it be through donations or your presence, none of this would be possible without YOU!
We look forward to the amazing work these men will provide, supported by each other with the intent of glorifying God in all they do!

November reminded us of the spiritual battle against lust—and how we counteract it with LOVE.
