A Daily Commitment to Christ - August Update

August reminded us that freedom requires discipline, courage, and a daily commitment to Christ.Through our South and North sessions, we explored the impact of technology, screens and daily habits, asking ourselves: What is forming me daily? We were reminded that the battle for our attention is real, and that cultivating virtue requires discipline, prayer, silence and intentional habits. Our YMG Social at TruNinja brought plenty of laughter, determination, and brotherhood as the men tested their strength and endurance. Meanwhile, our leaders continued to grow through accountability, daily check-ins, and prayer.

YMG South & North: Session 7 - Tech, Screens & Holy Habits

📅 August 7th & 21st 2026

This month we had thought provoking talks delivered by a very special guest, Damien, for the South session and our very own YMG North leader, Michael.

What is forming me daily? Is a question we need to ask ourselves. In our day and age, it is quite common to use our phones and technology. Technology is not inherently bad, but when left unchecked, it can become dangerous. Our life is formed by a series of habits, leading us into virtue or vice. We are, in fact, creatures of habit, with the constant use of our phones - we lose the ability to properly communicate. We can be constantly bombared with noise, leaving little to no time to be present or quite often we fear or make excuses to not draw closer to God, through silence.

There is a war happening as we speak, a spiritual warfare. We have God who is constantly wanting to communicate to us but we also must realise that there is the enemy, the Devil, who wants to steal our attention, to turn us away from God. It isn’t in one instance; it is often a slow, gradual and subtle way, as we fall deeper and deeper into bad habits. As Damien mentioned in his talk, the song Slow Fade paints a very telling reality of this slow allure into falling into sin, gradually drawing us away turning from God:

Be careful little eyes what you see. It's the second glance that ties your hands As darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go. For it's the little feet behind you. That are sure to follow.
It's a slow fade. When you give yourself away. It's a slow fade. When black and white have turned to grey. And thoughts invade, choices made.

What will help us to fight this battle? Discipline. It is a daily ongoing battle, till the day we die. We ought to put into practice, prayer, fasting, silence, uncovering God’s word through scripture, etc. Discipline is the answer too all human problems. But, we must keep in mind that our purpose is too know, love and serve the LORD through cultivating and living a life of virtue. So, with that said, are we willing to set aside time. Put the phone down. Talk with God. Live a life of virtue.

⚓YMG Social - TruNinja

📅 August 22nd 2026

What a night to remember! The YMG Men test their endurance, strength and agility as they make their way through the TruNinja Obstacle course. This course is based of the well-renowned TV show of American Ninja Warrior - as contestants make their way through challenging obstacles.

The night was met with many triumphs and trials, as well as plenty of bumps (and bruises) along the way, which were sure to keep the night alive and provide a good source of entertainment for the YMG members and other folk present too. Many failed attempts took place throughout the night, which only added to the entertainment, followed by plenty of laughter from the YMG members and folk present there too.

The night was met with much laughter, determination and a bit of friendly competition, as the YMG members both battled it out against one another and individually tested themselves, pushing themselves to their limits. Despite the many failed attempts, the boys continued to give it another go, making for a memorable and entertaining night for all.

Check out this awesome night in the video below!

❤️‍🔥YMG Leadership & Formation🤝

The YMG Leaders continue to commit their time and effort to building the YMG, a movement set on forming men to live out their true manhood. Their determination is reflected in keeping each other accountable through frequent communication and daily Anchor check-ins. These check-ins are a valuable opportunity for vulnerability, accountability, and encouragement.

In many instances, there can be a dread or excuse of being too busy to check in. Yet, more often than not, these daily check-ins offer powerful moments of guidance, brotherhood, and encouragement, helping us to carry out our daily duties with love, joy, and peace. We look to commit ourselves to daily discipline through prayer, especially through Mother Mary’s powerful intercession by praying the Rosary each day.

As we look towards the year ahead, we remain committed to continuing to strengthen the YMG brotherhood and building a culture of true Catholic manhood.

From us to you, we thank you for your ongoing support, whether it be the simplest of powerful prayers or attending events (YMG Conference, YMG Sessions). All of this is not possible without you. The LORD has and will continue to provide for us and we are committed to seeing how His mission for us will unfold. Please keep us in your prayers, as well as our ministry and for all the men you may know.

⚔️FINAL WORD

August reminded us we ought to fight for freedom.

The battle is ongoing, daily, and requires discipline to win.

“Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.- Hebrews 12:11
