Be joy-filled - April Update

This month started off on a joyful note as we commenced the Easter season. To celebrate, the men gathered for a long-awaited feast. For our social gathering we had a movie night and spent some quality in fellowship, filled with laughter and brotherhood. We were also blessed by a faithful follower of Christ and special guest, who spoke on the power of forgiveness. Our preparations for the YMG conference continue with ongoing fundraising efforts and leadership formation. Our celebrations also continue as a few of the YMG men step forward in answering the call to holy matrimony.

🍔A joy-filled feast🍻

📅 April 7th 2026

Christ has truly risen! Alleluia Alleluia! To end off the Lenten observance and kickstart the start of Easter, the YMG Men did so with an incredible and long-awaited feast. It was an awesome night to gather round and chow down on some good ol’ burgers, fries, and beer, too! It is always such a joy to see the simple greeting, with a warm and welcoming embrace, the smiles when bantering with each other and the awe-inspiring words spoken amongst each other. This wasn’t just about the food but a true celebration of our journey together, strengthening each other and being filled (spiritually as well as physically too😉) with the joy of the Easter Season.

We look forward to the year ahead, which will bring about many challenges but many, many blessings along the way.

🌌YMG SOCIAL - movie night🍄

📅 April 11th 2026

LET'S A GO! For this month’s social gathering, the YMG spent some time together watching the new release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Surprisingly, it was an entertaining movie to watch with many stunning visual scenes and often many funny scenes that set off a chain of laughter and giggles from the YMG Men and audience.

To end off the night, the men feasted on some burgers. Nights like these are often met with laughter, deep conversation, and a chance to touch base with fellow members and friends. These nights not only offer a time for fun but most importantly hone in on fellowship. The pairing of food and fellowship creates an atmosphere of true joy and laughter, often leads to many memorable moments - whether it be an heartfelt conversation or funny remark by the YMG crew.

🙏🏼YMG North (and south) - The power of Forgiveness

📅 April 17th 2026

It was an awesome turnout as we had both North and South YMG Members. It’s incredible to see how far YMG has come and will continue to grow, as new people have joined us - praise God! This session, we were blessed to be joined by Fr. Ken (founder of the MGL, Missionaries of God’s Love, which YMG is under patronage), who gave a compelling and honest talk on forgiveness. To celebrate this special occasion, the men feasted on some tasty smash burgers and ginger beers, topped off with some dessert (because why not!). Many of the men helped out in the kitchen to make some exquisite, hand-crafted YMG burgers, whilst others immersed themselves in highly active and entertaining to watch activities to start the night.

This night called to mind the power of forgiveness. We often find ourselves wanting to right others' wrongs. We seek justice and revenge for the faults of others. We allow bitterness to take over us. But we soon realise that we become so accustomed to this mindset, we perceive we are free by turning away from another, when in reality we become burdened by the weight of resentment. Resentment is poisonous. Forgiveness is freeing. By failing to forgive another, we hurt not only the other but ourselves in the process. This session reminded us that we are to forgive through God’s grace. With that, forgiveness does not mean we forget. The hurt and pain we experience are real and should not be disregarded.

An important distinction was made: forgiveness does not always require reconciliation. Forgiveness is a one-sided act of the will—it frees the heart. Reconciliation, however, is mutual; it requires both parties and seeks to restore what was broken. Even when reconciliation isn’t possible, forgiveness still is.

May we never cease to forgive, even when it feels undeserved. We look to Christ as our model as he states “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

❤️‍🔥YMG BBQ fundraisers🤝

We continue to host our YMG BBQ Fundraisers with the generous support of parishes across Adelaide. These have been awesome opportunities to showcase the power of brotherhood as the men step up and out to serve and converse with other men about the upcoming YMG conference and ministry. At YMG, we are more than just a brotherhood focused on building our own members up, we ought to serve and give back in building the church around us.

❤️‍🔥YMG LEADERSHIP MEETINGS AND FORMATION🤝

Our weekly leadership meetings have always enabled us, as leaders, to keep commitment, communication, and accountability at the forefront. It’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters when difficulties arise—especially in the lead-up to this YMG conference.

Commitment is not just about being physically present; it’s about showing up even when it’s inconvenient and costs us. Our leadership has truly flourished, and through this we’ve seen that when communication lacks, it impacts not only leadership but the ministry as a whole.

The lead-up to this conference has reminded us not to grow complacent, but to continue striving for excellence—not for attention, reputation, or the appraisal of others, but SIMPLY and ONLY for God’s glory. As we prepare, the demands increase, and it can be easy to feel discouraged, yet the leaders remain anchored in Christ, relying on each other’s talents and strengths to keep moving forward.

Please continue to keep us, our members, all men, and their families in your prayers!

From us to you, we thank you for your ongoing support, whether it be the simplest of powerful prayers or attending events (YMG Conference, YMG Sessions). All of this is not possible without you. The LORD has and will continue to provide for us, and we are committed to seeing how His mission for us will unfold. Please keep us in your prayers, as well as our ministry, and for all the men you may know.

🧹Clean up time with the ymg leaders

📅 April 26th 2026

The leaders rolled up their sleeves and took time to clean, clear, and organise all essential items for the upcoming conference and everything YMG. There was nothing a little music couldn’t do to boost the mood, and plenty of laughs to fuel the fun while we sorted out all things YMG.

It’s incredible to see how far YMG has come—each item, whether big or small, showcases just how big YMG really is and just how much it will continue to grow. This wouldn’t be possible without each other, as teamwork really does make the dream work.

We’re all so keen for what this upcoming conference has to offer—we hope to see YOU there!

💍A holy union - a call to marriage❤️

It is a delight to announce that within YMG, a few of our fellow friends and faithful men have taken the next step in their relationships. Mark, Liam, and Josh have stepped out in faith and answered the call with a proposal. This year continues to bring about blessings as men take up the vocation of marriage. May we continue to keep these faithful men in our prayers as they journey ahead and prepare for their joyful and blessed wedding days; may they remain faithful, trusting, and surrendering to God’s will, and have the courage to lead their families. May God bless them abundantly.

⚔️FINAL WORD

This month reminded us to be filled with joy, to embrace the power of forgiveness, and to grow deeper in brotherhood.

Joy is all around us. e simply need to be open to receive it and live it out.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead1 Peter 1:3
